Situational Awareness Concepts
Understand the Environment. Recognize the Threat. Make Better Decisions.
Most people believe situational awareness means simply "paying attention." In reality, it is a highly trainable cognitive skill that allows you to identify danger before it becomes obvious, recognize subtle behavioral cues, and make sound decisions under stress.
This intensive 2-hour course introduces the principles of professional situational awareness used by military personnel, intelligence professionals, law enforcement officers, and protective security specialists, then adapts those concepts for everyday life.
Students will learn how the brain processes information, why people routinely miss obvious threats, and how to establish an accurate behavioral and environmental baseline. From there, you'll learn to recognize anomalies, detect pre-incident indicators of violence, identify common criminal tactics, and understand how stress affects perception, memory, and decision-making.
Rather than relying on fear or paranoia, this course teaches disciplined observation and structured decision-making that can be applied whether you're walking through a parking garage, traveling overseas, protecting your family, or simply moving through daily life.
Topics include:
