About Non-Permissive Citizen
Violence is often sudden, chaotic, and unforgiving.
Most people spend their lives hoping they never encounter it. Few spend any time preparing for it.
Non-Permissive Citizen exists for those who choose a different path.
For more than a decade, I have pursued instruction from some of the world's most respected practitioners in personal security, situational awareness, escape and evasion, surveillance detection, criminal violence, edged weapons, behavioral analysis, and defensive tactics. I have trained with military professionals, protective security specialists, behavioral experts, and instructors whose experience was earned in the real world, not simply in classrooms. Those influences are reflected throughout our courses, which introduce students to ideas drawn from instructors such as Kevin Reeve, Gavin de Becker, Christopher Sayoc Sr., Craig Douglas, Ed Calderon, Tom Kier, Travis Downing, Dave Grossman, Joe Navarro, Bill Rapier, and many others.
But Non-Permissive Citizen is not about collecting certificates or repeating someone else's curriculum.
It is the distillation of thousands of hours spent studying violence, preparedness, and human behavior and translating those lessons into practical skills that ordinary citizens can understand, remember, and apply.
Our courses are built on a simple premise:
Preparedness begins long before a fight.
Most violence can be avoided through awareness, decision-making, positioning, communication, and recognizing danger before it develops into crisis. When avoidance is no longer possible, preparation, skill, and decisive action become critical.
Whether you're learning urban escape and evasion, situational awareness, surveillance detection, lock picking, improvised weapons, or personal security, every course serves the same objective:
To buy yourself time.
As Ed Calderon observed, "Situational Awareness is the only currency which can be used to purchase time." That philosophy runs throughout everything we teach.
The raven and the wolf in our emblem represent the balance we strive to cultivate.
The raven observes. It learns. It adapts.
The wolf acts with courage, ferocity, determination, and resolve.
Together, they represent the modern citizen who refuses to be an easy target: someone who thinks critically, remains calm under pressure, and possesses both the wisdom to avoid unnecessary conflict and the capability to prevail when conflict becomes unavoidable.
Non-Permissive Citizen is not about fear.
It is not about paranoia.
It is not about looking tactical.
It is about developing capable, self-reliant men and women who refuse to surrender responsibility for their own safety.
Because freedom favors those who are prepared.
